A very happy ending
Here is a sad story of neglect with a very happy ending.Sue Short has a small rescue (currently with 14 residents) called GALA (Greyhound and Lurcher Aid). She helps dogs from pounds in Durham.
Here she gives us an update on one of her rescues who has now been re-homed thanks to my contact Sandy at East Midlands Dog Rescue. Mungo (now called Dylan) looks great and she asked what his new owners had been feeding him on..Answer: Skinner's Salmon & Rice for his skin.
Dylan was found as a stray in February and was taken to StrayAction at Deerness Kennels in Durham. As you can see he was in a dreadful state with mange and a bacterial skin infection. The pound staff were excellent and had him treated with mange baths but his skin was sore and he was a sorry state. He needed a home and TLC. Sue got him from them and transferred him to Sandy at East Midlands Rescue in Leics for a home that Sandy felt would love and care for him.

Dylan in February
And so Dylan's second chance of a new life has begun and what a difference from February to April!. As you can see he is a Saluki type of sighthound. He is a very loving, sensitive boy. He had suffered so much from very serious neglect. In fact he was one of the worse cases of mange Sue had ever seen as not only was he bleeding from cracked and swollen skin but his poor ears were cracked and sore too...she suspects months of neglect before being abandoned.

Dylan now
Happily he is transformed and as you can see he is a success story due to care, love and, Sue says, good food (Field & Trial Salmon and Rice) from Skinners.
Sue sent us this story to highlight just how a "hound from a pound" can be given a second chance and she hopes it will encourage people to adopt a greyhound or lurcher. Unfortunately, there are many similar cases all over the country.
