Sweden win The Skinner's World Cup Retriever Event 2010
The Skinner's World Cup Retriever Event 2010 took place Sunday 30th & Monday 31st May at Highclere Castle, Newbury, Berkshire.A total of 14 teams competed for the coveted title which ended in dramatic style as Sweden and England were tied on 710 points each. The tension was felt by everyone spectating as both teams were called forward for a final run-off to decide who would become the outright winner. Both teams performed under immense pressure as they went head to head in front of all 5 international judges as well as the other 12 competing teams and all of the spectators. We welcomed spectators from Japan, Finland and America as well as many supporters from the countries represented at the event. It was a nervous wait to see who would ultimately win.
The final results were announced in the main ring with all teams parading around with their dogs to excited cheers and support from the onlooking crowd of spectators. Lady Carnarvon presented the trophies to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners and to the handler of the Highest Placed Dog.
The winners were:

1st SWEDEN
2nd ENGLAND
3rd SWITZERLAND
Highest Placed Dog FT Ch Abbotsross Megan handled by Henk Slijkhuis, Holland.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the teams who competed to make this year's Event one of the most exciting we have had in it's nine year history. We would also like to thank our 5 international judges: Peter Cole, Tess Lawrence, Douglas Raven, Martin Rush and Birgitta Staflund-Wiberg who judged each dog and handler fairly and consistently throughout the numerous working tests and, of course, the final run-off. Never an easy job!
Thank you to our test organisers: John Birkett, Rupert Hill, Peter Castleman and Barry Taylor for setting such challenging working tests.
We are indebted to the Kintbury Gundog Club whose members again volunteered to throw dummies, fire shots and steward the tests - some of them for the first time.
