Since 1688, our mill has stood proudly as part of the Suffolk landscape. It’s been in the Skinner family for seven generations and it’s where we continue to make most of our foods today.

Creation of the Skinner’s Mill

The traditional mill in Stradbroke was built in 1688. It was one of the first post­mills in Suffolk grinding corn for local people. The mill has been in the Skinner family for seven generations and a period of over 200 years.

The first Puppy Pack

Skinner’s launched their popular Puppy Pack scheme, originally called ‘puppy sure start’­ this scheme was created to encourage breeders to wean their puppies onto and recommend Skinner’s food to new owners.

The new factory

Skinner's continue to develop their range, expanding their mill to become one of the most sophisticated dry dog food manufacturing plants in the country, producing ALL their foods at their factory in Suffolk, using British sourced product where possible and grains that surround the local fields. All their diets are produced using a fixed formula, so the diets are always consistent.

Skinner’s celebrate 50 years of fuelling working dogs (1971-2021). To celebrate they updated the look of the brand with a refreshed logo, updated and redesigned their dry food packaging, enhanced their range with 4 x wet food diets, 3 x treats and updated – all in recyclable packaging! There are more things to come in 2021 so watch this space.

The Stradbroke Mill has been in the Skinner family for seven generations. We have been manufacturing our dog foods since the early 1970’s.

The entire Field & Trial range is made in our own Suffolk Mill, based in Stradbroke. Where possible we try and use locally sourced ingredients from the fields surrounding the mill.

We do not add any artificial flavours or colours to any of our products. 

No, all our diets are made to a fixed formula ensuring each product is consistently to your dog’s standards!
